This is why I do what I do and is what keeps me going, fires me up to research and experiment and test new recipes. I am the one who owes the thanks to you. We do not have to feel different, cheat or deprive ourselves. We should all "Eat, live and enjoy life" and I will always do my best to help us all achieve that.

Thank yo so very much! You have made my entire week, can not wait to whip up a batch [Hamantaschen] and at 6 carbs each I can have 2!! Thank you for taking the time to make this up. Words alone can not show how touched that I am! I thank you, very hard to be "different" when I cheat, it is a tough 12 hours till I get it back together, when I deprive myself, no so happy...So I want to once again say thank you and I think that you are remarkable and have a wonderful evening...oh, I forgot to mention, THANK YOU!!!!

I don't post here too often, but read alot! I wanted to tell you that I made several of your recipes for Thanksgiving and each one was a winner with my diabetic brother and me and also with the non-diabetics at our holiday table! I made the Herbed Butternut Squash and Turnip Gratin - never had a turnip before and loved it, the Cranberry Relish, which was a huge hit with all and my son tackled the Chocolate Silken Tofu Pie that went quicker than the regular pie. Thanks for the recipes that allowed me to feel like I was eating like a queen and allowed my blood sugar to be a fantastic 90 two hours after the meal!

Do you miss mashed potatoes?
Not really, I could live without spuds. My downfall is pasta and rice but you can't have a shepherd's pie without potatoes now, can you? Many thanks for your great mashed potato recipe Chef Barrae! It was delicious. I never mashed cauliflower before and was surprised its texture looks so much like mashed potatoes. It was fun to experiment like this. I fooled my husband and he is a hard core meat and potato guy.

Chef, I just want to thank you because you helped with my diabetic friendly Thanksgiving meal. I used your gravy recipe first off and I also made your sweet potato whip. Even the kids loved it. I also did the green bean casserole, the melange of fall veggies and the butternut squash and turnips, my personal favorite.

Just a quick note to say that this [Herbed Butternut Squash and Turnip Gratin] is a wonderful dish, and so easy to make. This is going into my favorites section. This is another winner! I loved making this [Chocolate Almond Joy to the World]. The best part is that is has no exotic ingredients, just things that I normally have in the house. They were a huge success. Thank you! Wow! What a treat. Even my non-diabetic friends loved these [Chocolate Hazelnut Truffles]. I used crushed walnuts instead of hazelnuts and it...came out wonderful. Thank you so much for your site!

I made this [Hot Artichoke and Crab Dip] on Saturday using real crab....my family LOVED it. Thanks for the recipe - it really is a keeper.
We wanted a lighter dinner tonight - so I did this [Ham Hash and Eggs] using canadian bacon - it was WONDERFUL - sure is a keeper - thanks for this one.

I’ve been through the highs and lows…trust me! Before getting pregnant for my first time, I was a smoker and a bit obsessive about my weight. In fact, I was anorexic and bulemic, two very unhealthy habits.
When I found out I was pregnant, I quit smoking cold turkey. I didn’t exercise through that pregnancy unless it was to walk to get ice cream. I ended up gaining 70 lbs, delivering at 200lbs. I kept telling myself that I “cured” myself of smoking and my eating disorder so it was okay.
Some of the weight came off, but I have never returned to my 130lb. start.
I got down to my “okay” weight of 153 and found out I was pregnant again. At 13 weeks I had only gained 1 lb and knew there was something wrong. I had lost the baby at 8 weeks.
Pregnancy number 3 went a little better. I gained 60 lbs (10 less than the first). I ate much healthier with this one only because I craved healthy foods. Pineapple was the best! I only returned to 160 from this pregnancy.
Pregnancy number 4 was even better. I ran until I was 27 weeks along and played volleyball until I was 35-36 weeks along. I only gained 27 lbs. and truly felt great.
I’ve just found out, unexpectedly, that I’m pregnant for my last little kiddo. I am only five weeks along and plan on doing a regular exercise routine again. I’m wondering how knowing my last and final pregnancy will play out. Hopefully I’ll continue on a healthy lifestyle and my goal is to lose less than 30.
Good luck all. Everyone’s body is different. Be smart and make smart choices, the rest is just minor detail…
